Charter Communications backs off from NebuAd, USA 1 - UK 0

US ISP, Charter Communications, has backed off from using NebuAd according to heise security's blog post.

Wow, USA moves so fast in response to their customers! They not only listen but also act! Yet here in the UK we're still stressing about whether or not our ISPs will be using Phorm.

USA 1 - UK 0, phail, very disappointing, must try harder.

Both NebuAd and Phorm technologies involve interception of your Internet traffic at the ISP level, something that would normally require a warrant from the court on a per case basis if law enforcers needed to intercept your Internet traffic. Pretty cavalier stuff if you ask me.

It's no wonder that Phorm are being asked the hard questions that I personally don't think they'd dare answer (and yes, they are watching the legendary Wayne Porter's blog). What really surprises me, is why the UK ISPs don't reject Phorm based on these questions. Why can an ISP in the USA see sense where in the UK the ISPs cannot?
